YOUR WEEKLY JOURNAL LETTER
Here are the rules:
- You must write in letter form. Here is a basic
model to follow:

Dear Ms.
,
____________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________
__________________________________________________________________________________
Closing,
Your signature
and the pages that you have read
that week.
- The first paragraph must have a summary of the
pages that you have just read.
- The summary will include:
WHO?
WHAT HAPPENED? (ONLY THE MAIN EVENTS), WHEN? WHERE?
WHY?
- The second paragraph will include one of the following
assignments which you may choose:
- Predict what will happen
on the pages following what you’ve just read.
- Explain who would enjoy
this book.
- Relate something that
happened to an event in your own life.
- Describe a place on these
pages that reminds you of somewhere you’ve been.
- Compare a character to
yourself; tell how you are alike or tell how you are different.
- If you were meeting the
author of this book, what questions would you ask him about the pages
you’ve just read?
- Indent each paragraph.
- Do not make your letter longer than one page.
- Check all spelling words in your letter from the
story, dictionaries, or teacher
- Be certain you have written in complete sentences.
- Capitalize letters and put in punctuation marks as
needed.
