Verbs and Direct Objects
There will be several different directions on
this page. Read everything very carefully so you don’t make any silly
mistakes.
- Underline the verb in
each sentence.
Craig and Sammy met at the video store after
school. ______________
Sound
the fire alarm! _______________
Please hold my hand while we cross the
street. _______________
Mrs. Nelson smelled the rose.
_______________
I saw her at the mall. _______________
Now go back and write the direct object of
the sentence on the line.
Some of the following sentences contain a
direct object and others do not. Read the sentence carefully.
If
it contains a direct object or objects, write YES on the line at the
end of the sentence.
If the sentence does not have a direct object,
write NO at the end of the sentence.

If the verb is an action verb,
put an A on the line before the sentence.

put an L.

If there is a direct object in the
sentence, circle it.
