Complete Subject and Complete Predicate

 

The 2 main parts of a sentence are the subject and the predicate. 

The part that names what is talked about is the complete subject.

The part that tells what is said about the subject is the complete  predicate.

 

Draw a line separating the complete subject from the complete predicate.

 

Most snowstorms of the winter / have been predicted by the forecasters.

 

1.     A cold wind was blowing out of the north yesterday.

2.     Dark clouds hung low on the horizon

3.     A heavy snow fell during the night.

4.     The brown grass is covered with snow.

5.     The branches of the trees are heavy with snow.

6.     A white blanket covers the roofs of the houses.

7.     Wisps of smoke are curling the streets.

8.     A snowplow is clearing the streets.

9.     Workers in trucks are hauling the snow away.

10. Motorists are clearing the snow from the windshields.

11. The weather forecasters did not predict the snowstorm.

12. Six inches of snow have fallen.

13. The snowstorm has surprised everyone.

14. Edith and Mike are watching the storm from the window.

15. Their mother has tuned in the radio.

16. They listen attentively to the announcer’s voice.

17. Edith and Mike smile happily at one another.

18. All schools are closed.
