You use Cause & Effect every day of your life. In order to understand the content in social studies and science, it is necessary for you to be aware of the importance of cause and effect. Whenever you ask the question, “Why?”, you are dealing with cause & effect. In school, you may be asked to explain certain results of your actions. These results are the effects from a cause.
Today you will write a one-paragraph composition about getting up early for school. To help organize your facts and ideas, complete the graphic organizer so you can use it as a guide. This will act as your Pre-write.
Your story starter is the following sentence, “Sometimes I have trouble getting up in the morning.” This is the statement of the cause that will act as your topic sentence. Then you will need to describe the effects or consequences that may occur because you did not get up on time. Finally, you will need to come up with a good concluding sentence to end your paragraph.
